Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

AfterChimney Company in West Sacramento, CA
Alcott Chimney Sweep is the chimney company West Sacramento homeowners call when they want straight answers about what’s happening inside their flue. West Sacramento jobs run differently than work across the river: the older masonry chimneys concentrated in Broderick and Bryte see real weather stress from Tule fog and river humidity, and winter burn patterns here build creosote faster than most people expect. Ruben Castellano leads our team, and every visit starts with a written price before anything gets touched. Call (336) 863-3889 to talk through what you’re seeing.
Why West Sacramento Homes Are Different
West Sacramento sits inside the Sacramento Valley’s Tule fog belt, and that changes how chimneys behave. During December and January, dense ground fog settles over the river and can keep families burning their fireplaces for days at a stretch. The fires run cooler in that damp air, drafting poorly, and cool, sluggish burns are exactly what deposit creosote – the tar-like residue that causes chimney fires – on flue walls faster than a hot, clean burn would.
The housing stock matters just as much. The Broderick and Bryte neighborhoods hold dense clusters of 1940s and 1950s bungalows and ranch homes, many with their original single-wythe brick chimneys. Those chimneys were built before stainless steel liners became standard, and most were never retrofitted. Add the Sacramento River’s wet-season moisture followed by bone-dry Central Valley summers, and the brick expands and contracts hard every year. Mortar joints crack. Crowns spall. By the time we arrive in Broderick, what starts as a routine sweep often turns into a conversation about masonry repairs the homeowner didn’t know were due.
Our Main West Sacramento Services
West Sacramento homeowners reach out about three things most often: keeping the flue clean for burning season, verifying a chimney is safe before the first fire of the year, and getting a gas fireplace that won’t stay lit back in working order. Each service has its own West Sacramento page with full pricing and detail.
Chimney Sweep in West Sacramento
Creosote builds up in West Sacramento flues faster than homeowners expect because Spare the Air restrictions concentrate legal wood-burning into fewer days. When residents do burn, they burn intensely through those approved windows, which pushes soot and creosote accumulation well past what annual use would suggest. A professional sweep removes that buildup before it becomes a fire hazard, and we always inspect what we’re cleaning so you know the condition of the flue, not just that it’s clear. See the full details on our Chimney Sweep in West Sacramento page.
Chimney Inspection in West Sacramento
An inspection in West Sacramento means looking at more than the flue interior. The river-adjacent humidity and fog-season moisture work on masonry from the outside while creosote accumulates inside, so we check mortar joints, crown condition, flashing, and the firebox as part of every inspection. For older Broderick and Bryte homes with original brick chimneys, we commonly find deterioration that’s been developing for years without any visible sign from the ground. Read more on our Chimney Inspection in West Sacramento page.
Gas Fireplace Repair in West Sacramento
Newer infill homes and riverfront townhomes in West Sacramento trend toward gas inserts and direct-vent fireplaces, and when those units stop lighting or start short-cycling, it’s usually a thermopile, pilot assembly, or valve issue. We diagnose gas units the same way we handle everything else: a written price before any work starts, and parts from professional trade brands rather than box-store substitutes. Full pricing and details are on our Gas Fireplace Repair in West Sacramento page.

FAQs About Chimney Company in West Sacramento
Most West Sacramento homeowners get an appointment within a few days to two weeks, depending on season. Fall and early winter fill fastest as people prep for burning season, so if you want work done before the first fog sets in, schedule in late summer or early fall. Call (336) 863-3889 and a live person will check current availability.
Routine sweeping and inspection don’t require permits. For bigger structural jobs like a full rebuild or liner installation, West Sacramento follows Yolo County building codes, and you may need a permit depending on scope. We’ll tell you honestly during the estimate whether your job triggers one.
You’ll know the technician’s name and see their photo before we arrive. Every Alcott technician is background-checked, identity-verified, uniformed, and required to show a photo ID badge at the door. That’s the Threshold Standard, and it’s not optional for any visit in West Sacramento. If you’d rather meet outside first, our technician will accommodate that.
