Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Available Franchise Territories
Alcott Chimney Sweep is opening protected territories in markets where homeowners need a chimney company they can actually verify before opening the door. That’s the whole idea behind the Threshold Standard, and it’s the reason we’re looking for the right owners in the states below. A protected territory means you’re the only Alcott location in your area. You build the local reputation. You keep the customers you earn. No one else operating under our name can come in behind you and take what you’ve built. First movers get the strongest neighborhoods, the best vendor relationships, and the chance to be the first name homeowners think of when the fireplace stops drafting right. That position is worth more than any advertising budget.
Open Markets
The following states have open territory available for independent owners who want to run a chimney sweeping, inspection, and gas fireplace repair business under the Alcott name and the Threshold Verified promise. Each market has its own reasons to be interesting, but all of them share one thing: homeowners who want to know exactly who is walking through the door.
- Texas – High fireplace counts in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and the Hill Country, plus a steady stream of older homes with masonry chimneys that haven’t seen a sweep in years.
- Florida – A surprising number of working fireplaces and a lot of gas units that need service, particularly in central and north Florida where winters get cold enough to use them.
- California – Strict air quality rules and older housing stock mean inspections and repairs are steady work, not seasonal flukes.
- Georgia – Metro Atlanta and the surrounding counties have a dense concentration of homes built in the 1970s through 1990s, many with original flues still in service.
- North Carolina – Cold mountain winters in the west, a huge population corridor in the Piedmont, and a fireplace culture that runs deep in both.
- Arizona – Wood-burning fireplaces are common in the older parts of Phoenix and Tucson, and gas inserts are everywhere in newer construction.
- Tennessee – Nashville and Knoxville both have strong fireplace usage, and the state’s housing stock mixes old masonry work with modern prefab units.
- Ohio – Long heating seasons and a large inventory of mid-century homes with original chimneys. That’s a lot of liner inspections waiting to happen.
- Pennsylvania – Dense older neighborhoods in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, plus rural areas where wood heat is a way of life, not a decorative choice.
- Colorado – High-elevation burning and cold winters, with a population that moved in fast and inherited chimneys they know nothing about.
- Washington – Wet weather and wood stoves mean moisture damage and creosote are real, recurring problems for homeowners on both sides of the Cascades.
- Virginia – A mix of historic masonry in the east, suburban growth in the north, and mountain homes in the west. All of them have chimneys.
How Territories Work
A protected territory means you own the market within defined boundaries, and no other Alcott location will be sold inside those lines. You won’t compete with another Alcott truck for the same phone call. What you build stays yours. When a homeowner in your territory calls the number, the lead is yours. When you put your name on a job, the reputation attaches to you. We don’t splash twenty locations across one metro and let them cannibalize each other. That’s a race to the bottom, and it’s not what the Threshold Group does.
Territories are reserved by application, not by a handshake. You call the franchise line, tell us the market you’re interested in, and we check availability. If the market is open, we send the full disclosure paperwork and go through the numbers with you. No countdowns, no pressure to sign by Friday. We’d rather make sure the fit is right than push a bad match into a good neighborhood. Once you’re approved and the agreement is signed, the territory is closed to new Alcott sales in that area. It’s protected from day one.
