Training & Support - Alcott Chimney Sweep

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Training & Ongoing Support

Nobody buys an Alcott Chimney Sweep franchise because they’ve spent twenty years on a rooftop. They buy it because they want a real business with real demand, and they’re willing to learn. We built our training around that person. You bring the drive and the ability to shake a homeowner’s hand and mean it. We teach you the trade, the operations, the software, and the marketing. No prior chimney experience required. Period. Here’s what that actually looks like, from your first week through your tenth year.

Initial Training

You start with two weeks at our training facility, working hands-on with the same equipment and materials your technicians will use every day: DuraFlex liner systems, HeatShield resurfacing, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield. You’ll learn how a sweep is actually performed, what a Level 1 versus Level 2 inspection means, how to spot creosote buildup, and what real masonry damage looks like from a camera feed. Then we move into operations: how to price a job in writing before any work begins, how the 365-Day Done Right Promise works in practice, how to schedule routes efficiently. Software training covers the dispatch system, customer records, and the photo-and-name notification tool that lets you tell a homeowner exactly who’s coming to their door. Hiring is next: how to recruit, how to run the background check and identity verification that define the Threshold Standard, and how to build a team that wears the uniform with pride. Marketing rounds it out: local SEO, direct mail, referral programs, and the national brand campaigns that generate leads for you from day one.

Launch Support

Opening your doors is where most franchise systems go quiet. We don’t. Your launch plan starts about sixty days before you’re scheduled to run your first job. The corporate team builds your local marketing foundation: Google Business Profile, website with local landing pages, social profiles, and ad campaigns targeted to your service area. We set up your lead engine so you’re not scrambling for your first ten customers; those leads are already in the pipeline by the time you finish training. For your first jobs, a field coach is on call with you. Not a call center rep. Someone who has run sweeps, quoted repairs, and handled the homeowner who hasn’t moved their damper plate since the Clinton administration. We coach you through first pricing conversations, first liner installs, and first customer complaints until you don’t need to call anymore. And if something gets missed, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means a free second visit; that’s not a cost you eat, it’s a standard we share.

Ongoing Support

Support doesn’t end at launch. Here’s what you’ll have access to as long as you run an Alcott location:

  • Field coaching. A dedicated operations coach visits your location, rides along with your techs, and audits jobs for safety and quality against the Threshold Standard.
  • Marketing support. National brand campaigns, local ad templates, SEO updates, and review management tools that keep your Google presence working while you run jobs.
  • Vendor relationships. Direct purchasing through our national accounts for DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield. You get trade pricing without negotiating a single contract yourself.
  • Technology updates. Dispatch software, customer communication tools, and booking systems are maintained and upgraded centrally. You don’t manage a tech stack; you use one.
  • National brand campaigns. Threshold Group runs awareness campaigns that build name recognition in your market. When someone searches “chimney sweep near me,” they already know Alcott means background-checked, identity-verified, and priced in writing before work starts.
  • Ongoing trade training. New techniques, updated code requirements, and product changes come through regular training sessions and reference materials. Your team stays sharp without you becoming a full-time instructor.

You’re Never Alone

The whole point of joining a franchise is not having to figure it out by yourself at 6:00 a.m. on a Tuesday. Call (336) 863-3889 or request more info below and we’ll walk you through it. No pressure. No countdown clock. Just real answers.
